HYDERABAD, April 9: The secretary-general of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat, Mr Taj Joyo, and other prominent writers including Ayaz Gul, Adal Soomro, Dr Mohammad Ali Manjhi and Mukhtar Malik have called upon the Sindh governor to ensure that compulsory Urdu paper of class-XI is given for assessment to Sindhi teachers.

In a joint statement issued here on Thursday, they said for the last 32 years Sindhi teachers had been teaching and marking answer copies of compulsory Urdu subject at the higher secondary level.

They urged the governor to withdraw his recent orders contrary to above practice and restore to old system.

They warned if the old practice was not restored, Sindhi teachers will not teach Urdu which will create a host of problems for the education department.

They appealed to the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association to take notice of the issue in the interest of harmonious relations between Sindhis and the Urdu-speaking people.
