HYDERABAD, April 12: University of Sindh Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui has urged publishers to provide books at low prices to help promote reading habits among the youth. He was inaugurating a five-day book fair organized by the university’s Allama I. I. Kazi Central Library on Tuesday as part of the programme of the university’s founder’s week.

He observed that libraries occupied a central place in universities and students always liked to avail the facility. He said after provision of the internet facility, students were visiting the library in large numbers.

The vice-chancellor appreciated the variety of books displayed at the book fair.

A large number of faculty members and students visited the book fair.

The book fair, organized under supervision of the dean of the faculty of social sciences, Dr Rafia Ahmad Shaikh, would continue up to April 16 from 9am to 2pm. There will be 20 per cent discount on local and 25 per cent discount on imported books.
