KARACHI, April 15: The progress achieved so far in the Sukkur Barrage restoration work was reviewed at a high level meeting held at Governor House here with the Governor Dr. Ishrat -ul- Ibad in the chair.

Provincial Irriagation Minister Nadir Akmal Leghari, Engineer-in- Chief, Lt. Gen. Mohammed Zubair, Chief Secretary Mohammed Aslam Sanjrani, Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Ghulam Sarwar Khehro, Principal Secretary Brig. (Rtd) Akhtar Zamin, Commander Task Force Brig. Javed Ashraf Bajwa, DCO Sukkur Shafiq Khoso and other officials attended the meeting.

The meeting took stock of the Barrage rehabilitation work in the light of directives given by President General Pervez Musharraf during his recent visit to the Barrage.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of army engineers for the minimum time taken in the rehabilitation work, saving of funds and maintaining quality.

He said with the existing barrage rehabilitation plan, the completion target should be kept in view.

He said instead of waiting for an emergency situation to come, we shall have to take steps for chalking out a programme for rehabilitation of the Barrage from all aspects and its implementation under a set time frame. In this regard he issued necessary instructions to the concerned authorities.—APP
