SUKKUR, Jan 17: The officiating Naib Nazim of Khairpur district, Shafi Mohammad Chandio, on Friday sent a telegram to Justice Rehmat Hussain Jaffery and Justice Maqbool Baqar of the Sindh High Court , Sukkur bench, requesting them to start proceeding of the contempt of court against the Khairpur police.

He said the authorities violated the order of the court in which it authorized myself to act as officiating convener till Jan 21 since I was illegally and unlawfully arrested on Jan 14 on the behest of police district Khairpur and was in the custody till Jan 15.

He requested the court that the telegram might be treated as contempt application and action according to the law might be taken.

Meanwhile, District Bar Association Khairpur president Syed Bachal Shah in a separate telegram to President General Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali to order to register an FIR against the senior police officials of the district who were according to him were playing in the hands of PML (F) leadership.

He urged the SHC to take suo motu action against the police.

He said the police officials also involved in the beating and maltreatment with Shafi Mohammad Chandio an advocate of the high court and other members of the district council.
