DADU, Jan 31: The director of Institute of Skin Diseases, Karachi, Dr Sarwar Channa, has said that 450 leishmaniasis cases have been found by skin specialists' team from Jan 27 to 30.
Speaking to newsmen here on Friday, he said anti-sand fly spray was started in the affected areas of Johi taluka. He said teams had been sent to every union council of the area.
Dr Rukhsana Tariq said 30 cases of the skin disease were reported to her and she had provided them treatment.
Dr Noorul Qamar said cases were also coming from the different parts of the district to the civil hospital and most of them were women and children.
Dr Doulat Ram said he had given treatment to 25 cases of the skin disease. Dr Jameel Baloch said 75 cases were diagnosed which belonged to different parts of the Kachho area.
Dr Shafi Niazi said patients belonged to Tore, Kakar and Murad-jo-Goth of Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka.
EDO health said skin specialists' teams would continue their work at hospitals till the eradication of disease.

SAJJADA NASHIN: Followers of Mian Nasir Mohammad Kalhoro have alleged that an influential man of Khanpur, Amir Bux Abbasi, has threatened them to vacate their houses and property.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday at Khairpur Nathan Shah Faqir Sikandar Ali Mashoori, Faqir Panah Ali and Faqir Ramz Ali said Mr Abbasi was trying to occupy the property in the surrounding area of saint Mian Nasir Mohammad Kalhoro's sharine. He was introducing himself as the Sajjada Nashin of Mian Nasir Mohammad Kalhoro, they added.
They said they were providing services to Zaireen since their ancestors at the shrine while Najaf Hussain Abbasi, a resident of Haji Poori of Rajanpur was the real Sajjada Nasheen of Mian Nasir Mohammad Kalhoro.
POLICE EXCESSES: A woman, Noor Khatoon alleged on Friday that the Mehar police had released four accused who had murdered his son, Hubdar Ali Zardari, after receiving Rs50,000.
She told the newsmen that the DSP Mehar had received money and released four accused Ramzan, Haleem, Haqdar and Dildar Machhi.
She said the accused had killed Hubdar Ali Zardari in Hassanabad village some 45 days back and an FIR was lodged at the Mehar police station against them.
She said the accused were threatening them to withdraw from the case.
DOCTORS JOB: Sindh Health Secretary Ashiq Memon said on Saturday that the notification to regularize the services of contract doctors would be issued after Eidul Azha as the Sindh governor had approved the summary.
Speaking at a seminar on preventive measures of skin disease leishmaniasis, he said senior doctors working in BPS-20 and BPS-19 would be posted at the administrative posts soon in the district health department.
He said the finance department had approved budget for 260 basic health units (BHUs).
Mr Memon said the western belt of Dadu and some parts of Larkana district were officially declared as areas affected by leishmaniasis and the Sindh government had provided medicines worth Rs500,000.
He admitted that doctors were not attending their duties in hospitals in remote areas. He said the police department had occupied 14 buildings of BHUs in the district which would be vacated.
He directed EDOs health to take action against quacks.
He said two skin specialists were posted at the Dadu civil hospital and one ambulance would be provided to the hospital.
He appealed to the donor agencies and philanthropists to help health department in provision of medicines.
He suspended doctor Hamida Abbasi for not attending duty at the civil hospital.
WHO operational officer Dr G. N. Qazi, Dr Sarwar Channa, Dr Sharaf Shah, Dr Khadim Lakhair, EDO health Dr Maula Bux Jamali, and Dr Daulat Ram also spoke on the occasion.
