SUKKUR, Feb 5: The Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed in different districts on Thursday in which social and political organizations reiterated their support to the Kashmir cause.
A procession was taken out by the Sukkur Citizens Association from the Bakhar Chowk which after passing through different roads ended at the Bin Qasim park where speakers highlighted the Kashmir freedom struggle.
A seminar was held at the association's office, under the chairmanship of its president Ameer Bakhsh Mahar.
Speakers called upon the people to extend firm support to the government for finding a peaceful solution of the Kashmir imbroglio.
Mr Mahar also urged the opposition parties not to politicize the Kashmir issue.
SHIKARPUR: A procession was taken out by the All Sindh Balmiki (Hindu) Sabha which after marching through the main roads of the city terminated at the Lakhi Dar Chowk.
The participants carried banners and placards in their hands, inscribed with slogans supporting the Kashmir freedom struggle.
In his key note address Jai Jai Vishno backed the government's peace initiatives with India.
LARKANA: Special prayers for success of the movement ofKashmir liberation were offered at mosques and Imambargahs of the district.
Schools, colleges, all the government, semi-government offices, in all towns of the district remained closed.
Processions were taken out by political and religious parties, minorities, social and cultural organizations, to support the people of the held Kashmir.
They urged the Indian government to give Kashmiris their right of self-determination.
The protesters praised the efforts made by the government under the leadership of Gen Pervez Musharraf.
They hoped that Kashmir problem would be solved which was in the interest of both Pakistan and India.
A big procession was taken out from the Government Pilot Secondary School Larkana to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.-APP
Our Jacobabad correspondent adds: A procession was taken out here from the Madressah Qasimul Uloom which after passing through different streets culminated at the press club.
The protesters were carrying placards and banners. They chanted slogans in support of Kashmiri people.
Speaking on the occasion, Mumtaz Sahito, Dr A. G. Ansari, Hafiz Mir Mohammad Banglani, Mansoor Bijarani and others supported the Kashmir cause. They said freedom was the basic right of the people.
Our Mirphurkhas correspondent adds: Protest processions were taken out in the city by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and the district government on Thursday to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
District Nazim Pir Shafqat Shah and the DCO led a rally, carrying banners and placards in support of the Kashmiri people.
Participants marched on the main roads and reached the Post Office Chowk.
Another procession was taken out by the Muttahida Majlis-i- Amal which after passing through the main roads culminated at the Market Chowk.
Our Nawabshah correspondent adds: Two processions were taken out here on Thursday to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people. The activists of the Jamaat-i-Islami took out a procession from party office, which ended at Chakra Bazaar.
