GUJRANWALA, Feb 7: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 2 on Saturday sent 15 activists of the Shabab-i-Milli to jail on a 14-day judicial remand. The court directed their production on Feb 21.

The court also accepted the bail application of the arrested men for hearing and ordered the police to furnish it with the relevant record on Feb 10.

Meanwhile, MMA Punjab President Hafiz Muhammad Idrees met the arrested men at the district courts after hearing.

Talking to newsmen, he condemned the police action against the party's activists. He said he had come to the district on the directive of the alliance's acting president, Qazi Husain Ahmad.

Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of the Shabab-i-Milli was held here under district president Tasneemullah Mughal. The participants announced protest in front of the DPO office at 9am tomorrow (Monday).

ARRESTS: The district police claimed on Saturday to have held 421 proclaimed offenders and busted eight gangs of dacoits and robbers during a special drive launched in a fortnight.

This was stated by District Police Officer Saud Aziz while he was speaking at crime meeting at his office.

FACTORY FIRE: A factory godown caught fire due to alleged short-circuit, which reduced woollen garments and machinery to ashes here on Saturday.

According to reports, a woollen garments' factory on the GT Road caught fire and engulfed the entire machinery and goods. Firefighters put out flames in two hours.

The factory owners, Mian Farooq Ahmad and Mian Abdul Qayyum, estimated Rs3 million loss.
