SHEIKHUPURA, March 27: The Jamaat-i-Islami on Saturday took out a protest rally against Wana operation. The participants, carrying banners and placards, raised anti-government slogans.
Their leaders flayed the operation and described it a conspiracy against the tribal areas people.
They claimed that the government was killing innocent men, women and children on the pretext of eliminating terrorism.
They feared that the consequences of Wana operation would be disastrous for the country.
They warned the rulers to stop operation in Wana otherwise the Jamaat would intensify its anti-government operation.
FREE BOOKS: The district government would distribute textbooks among matriculation students under the chief minister's programme of free education up to matric in the province.
This was stated by district Nazim Tawakkalullah Virk here on Saturday.
He said the district government would spend Rs400,000 on the purchase of books, while books worth Rs200,000 would be provided by the Punjab Textbook Board.
