HARIPUR, April 2: Armed men looted cash and valuables from the house of a woman councillor in Kangra Colony on Thursday night. They also injured the councillor and her son when they tried to resist.

Police said six armed bandits barged into the house of councillor Shamim Bibi at around midnight when the family was asleep.

The bandits who, according to the councillor, were speaking Hindko, held all the inmates at gunpoint, collected gold ornaments weighing 19 tola, Rs15,000 in cash, arms licence and original papers of family car and fled. They also injured Shamim Bibi and her son Sajjad Khan when they tried to resist.

Meanwhile, in another robbery burglars made off with prize bonds worth Rs50,000 from a house in village Darvesh on Thursday night.
