KHAIRPUR, April 24: Speakers at a seminar on renovation and preservation of historical buildings held here on Saturday called upon the government to save the historical monuments of the former Khairpur state.

Speaking on the occasion, District Nazim Nafisa Shah invited the archaeology department officials to visit historical building of the sessions court and give proposal for its preservation.

She said that the sessions court building was built by the Khairpur state and then it was called as the Supreme Judicial Council.

She lamented that now it was in a state of dilapidation.

She said that structures of the Khairpur state, including the Supreme Judicial building, needed renovation and conservation.

District Bar Association president Bachal Shah said that the World Bank had provided funds for the judicial complex which were to be utilized within two and half years but one year had lapsed in consultation.

The chairman of the archaeology department, Shah Abdul Latif University, Prof Mukhtiar Qazi told the seminar that there were only 6 to 7 historical buildings of the Khairpur state.

He lamented that the Lady Wellington hospital building in Khairpur was demolished.

He demanded that the sessions court building should be repaired and used as museum.

The seminar was attended by UC Nazims, advocates and artists.

It might be mentioned that the sessions court building was constructed in 1918 by then ruler of the Khairpur Mir's State, His Highness Mir Imam Bux Talpur (1909-1921).

The building was constructed at a cost of Rs57,829 and was named as the Supreme Judicial Council.

At present the building is used as office of the district and sessions court Khairpur.

FIRs REGISTERED: Three separate cases were registered with the B-section police station about incidents which took place after the killing of Mohammad Waris Janwari, the father of the Maulana Ali Sher Hyderi on Thursday.

Complainant, Ali Haider Janwari, the brother of Maulana Ali Sher Hyderi, registered a case against Qalandar Bux Jagirani and his two sons Inayat and Hayat Jagirani, Ramzan alias Janu Mohajir and two other unidentified persons in the murder case of his father Mohammad Waris Janwari.

Abul Hassan registered a case against some 200-250 persons including Talibullah, Saleem Pathan and Khadim Mirani.

The complainant alleged that the accused raised objectionable slogans outside the Imam Bargah Hussainia Banaras Colony.

A shopkeeper, Shakeel Rehan, registered a case against six persons including Basheer Janwari, Faiq Memon and others.

The complainant alleged that they compelled him to close the shop and also snatched Rs4,000 cash and a licensed TT pistol from him.
