KOHAT, May 8: Malik Asad, district nazim of Kohat, assured the police administration of his full cooperation in the fight against crime especially nabbing the extortionists and the drug pushers.

He was speaking at an open kutchery held under the auspices of the Kohat police at the police officers club on Thursday.

The nazim appreciated the results of recent reforms implemented for improving the image and working of police, but at the same time said that much was to be done to make corrupt and inefficient police officials accountable.

Malik Asad stressed better coordination between the police and the public safety commission for taking stern action against extortionists, kidnappers and stubborn and corrupt police officials.

The meeting was attended by Abdul Majeed Marwat, DIG of Kohat region, Dr Ishtiaq Marwat, SSP of Kohat, a former MNA Javed Ibraheem Paracha, Haji Habibur Rehman, chairman of public safety commission, president of Bazaar Association, Ijaz Ahmed Paracha, Sher Ahmed Khan Bangash, Israr Shinwari, president of councillors' alliance, Ameer Khan Afridi and a large number of UC nazims and councillors.

The public representatives pointed out that few corrupt police officials were responsible for creating fear among peace loving citizens of the district. They alleged that these black sheep were in fact the informers of the criminal gangs operating in the area for so many years.

The DIG said that he had already issued strict orders that the SHOs involved in taking bribe from the gambling dens and criminals would be sent home. He said that under the new police order the police had been made answerable to the public and many criminal cases were in progress against police officials.
