HYDERABAD, May 14: The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company has completed 160 electrification schemes in April 2004 under different development programmes.

Hesco project director Guftar Anjum said that 22 schemes under the Tamir-i-Pakistan Programme were proposed by the prime minister, 55 schemes were completed on the proposals of MNAs/MPAs, 36 schemes under the Tamir-i-Sindh Programme and 21 schemes were commissioned under the Khushal Pakistan Programme.

Mr Anjum said that an amount of Rs15.786 million was spent on the prime minister's schemes and Rs.26.028 million on elected representatives' programme. He said that a total amount of Rs38.627 million was spent on other schemes which also included village electrification schemes.

POWER THEFT: A Hesco team detected theft of power in eight houses and shops in Paretabad, Mir Nabi Bux Town, Kali Mori, Phuleli and Pinyari areas on Friday and disconnected their power supply. The delinquents were also imposed fine.

At the intervention of some councillors, who assured the Hesco team of full cooperation, no action was taken against the power thieves.

WATER ROTATION: The executive engineer of the Hala irrigation division on Thursday announced the revised rotation programme of channels due to a shortage of water in the River Indus.

As per the schedule, Lundo and Nuker distributaries and Kum Lima minor of the Shahdadpur sub-division, Shahdadpur distributary, Quba Yagan, Burrira, Darha and Bhubhar minors of the Tando Adam sub-division-I, Jamali and Ghadali minors of the Saeedabad sub-division and Sutairi, Hurbari, Pai and Ghajro minors of the Tando Adam sub-division-II will remain closed upto May 21 while Pano and Maso minors, Jam and Saeed Khan distributaries and Maso sub-division and Tara distributary system will remain closed from May 14 to May 22.

The Bhumphar distributary system will also remain closed from May 15 to May 23.
