FAISALABAD, May 22: An ASI and a constable were arrested for killing a youth and injuring his two friends in Dastagir Colony here on Saturday.

Three friends riding a car visited the house of an alleged prostitute, but the area people informed the police. At this, an ASI and a constable of the Sargodha Road police rushed to the spot and intercepted the car of youngsters when they tried to leave girl's house. They exchanged harsh words and tore apart each others clothes after a brief scuffle.

In the meantime, the car riders tried to flee but the policemen opened fire on them, killing Muhammad Yaseen of Sargodha Road instantly and injuring Tariq and Latif seriously. The injured were rushed to hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, the Sargodha Road police have registered two separate cases.

The first case was registered against ASI Jawed Iqbal and constable Abdul Sattar on the charge of murdering Yaseen and injuring his two friends. Complainant Arshad, uncle of the deceased, claimed that the policemen had opened fire on Yaseen and his friends after an altercation over some minor issue.

The second case was registered against deceased Yaseen and his injured friends Latif and Tariq Saeed for opening fire on policemen, creating law and order situation and trying to kidnap a young girl.

The case was registered on the report of ASI Jawed Iqbal. The complainant claimed that he along with constable Abdul Sattar rushed to Dastagir Colony after receiving a phone call about an abortive attempt of kidnapping a young girl, Sobia. He alleged that Yaseen and his friends exchanged hot words with them and later opened fire on them. Yaseen, they claimed, sustained a bullet wound in a crossfire and died on the spot while two others were injured.
