FAISALABAD, May 29: The Tehsil Municipal Administration has expressed its anguish over an inordinate delay in the construction of a general bus stand.

The house unanimously passed a resolution, demanding the Punjab government that it should get it constructed through the National Logistic Cell or the Frontier Works Organization on priority.

At a session held here on Saturday with convener Muhammad Ilyas Ansari in the chair, a number of councillors regretted that the project was formally inaugurated by the Punjab governor a couple of years ago and required to be completed within 14 months.

They said the incomplete project was also creating problems for motorists and transporters.

After a heated debate, the house through a resolution demanded the Punjab government that it should allow the TMA to award the contract of bus stand to the FWO or the NLC.

The house was informed that the vehicles and machinery meant for cleanliness and sanitation had become inoperative.

The convener asked the officials concerned to present a detailed report on fitness of the existing vehicles and repair charges spent since August 2001 so that action could be taken against corrupt elements.

Shakeel Ahmed Ansari, Shabbir Husain Dogar and Rana Nadeem in a joint resolution claimed that scores of development works started for the last two years in different parts of the city had not so far been completed for want of funds and lack of interest by the contractors.
