SIALKOT, June 12: The District Peace Committee and the District Advisory Committee on Saturday expressed concern over law and order in the district.

In a joint meeting presided over by Sialkot District Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid, the two committees said the situation was more grave in Sabzpir, Kotli Loharan, Satrah and Head Marala police jurisdiction.

Taking serious notice, the district Nazim directed police to control the crime situation. He said that the district government would ensure prompt justice to those visiting to police stations.

He said that efforts were being made to bring about a change in the police attitude towards complainants so that they could fully express themselves. He asked the police to do away with the present practice of maltreating complainants and behave like public servants.

He underlined the need for restoring public confidence in police by bridging the gap between the people and the law enforcers.

The Nazim also banned the exhibition of arms by the people.

Sialkot SP (HQs) Umar Farooq Bhatti told the meeting that special police patrolling squads had already been deputed at the the mentioned areas.

He claimed that the situation was in control and the police were making all-out efforts to make the district crime-free.
