GUJRANWALA, June 12: Punjab Accountant General Wazir Ahmad Qureshi held an open kutchery at the district accounts office and solved the complaints of several retired government employees regarding nonpayment of dues and pension here on Saturday.
The AG issued notices to accounts offices for not maintaining accounts of GP fund of these employees. He directed then that pension cases should be forwarded to accounts offices six months before the retirement of an employee. He warned 'inefficient' accounts officers of strict action.
He listened to the complaints of pensioners and ordered that pension of 120 employees should be released immediately.
Earlier, he had a meeting with the DCO and district accounts officers and reviewed the problems of pensioners and cases of other employees. It was decided that the DCO would review every case to resolve the problem.
INQUIRY: A district and sessions judge started on Saturday inquiry into the death of 27 buffaloes of farmers of Mahtab Singh village in Alipur Chattha who were allegedly given poisoned water by police.
The judge issued notice to officials concerned for June 22 and ordered chemical examiner to present his report.
