HYDERABAD, June 19: The city taluka council on Friday adopted a resolution, seeking imposition of a ban on unfit passengers vehicles.

Usman Abbasi while tabling the resolution said that unsafe vehicles were plying on the city roads violating the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2001 that bound transporters to ensure safe travelling for commuters.

The council appealed to the Sindh governor, chief minister and chief secretary to take notice of gross irregularities in the registrar's office.

It demanded that the office should be directed to issue lease, sub-lease and registries in accordance with the approved lay out plan of the Hyderabad Development Authority.

Waheed Qureshi tabled a resolution to this effect which was unanimously adopted, mentioning that the people were harassed by the registrar office on different pretexts.

He alleged that amenity plots which were converted as commercial ones by corrupt officials had been leased to more than one lessee, leading to controversies.

Another resolution by Mr Qureshi said that work on the Sindh government hospital had been completed two years back but it was yet to start functioning.

He said that the Sindh health minister inaugurated the hospital in haste despite the fact that medicines and equipment were not provided to it.

He said that 30-bed hospital was losing its importance as the area people still remained without health facilities.
