GUJRAT, June 27: The Kunjah police failed to arrest the accused, who had thrashed three sisters and ripped to shreds their clothes over a water rotation dispute in Keeranwala village, about 40kms from here, on Saturday.

Complainant Sakina Bibi alleged that the police were taking the side of the influential accused, which earlier implicated her father in a fabricated case and now they were reluctant to arrest them.

Information gleaned by this correspondent gave out on Sunday that one Ishaq had a water rotation dispute with a Shah family of the same village. A case was registered against Ishaq on the complaint of the Shah family and he was sent to jail by the Kunjah police some days ago.

Raza Shah, his brother Asad Shah along with his accomplices was allegedly breaching the water channel of the agricultural land of Ishaq when latter's daughters came there and reprimanded them. Falling into a rage, the accused thrashed Sakina, her sisters Bushra and Mania Naureen (4). They also ripped to shreds their clothes and dragged them naked on the agriculture land.

Kunjah police had registered a case against Asad Shah, Raza Shah, Razia Bibi, Jamshed, Ejaz Shah, Riaz and four unidentified men on the complaint of Sakina.

The area people alleged that the accused were influential people and tried to steal the agriculture water of the poor family.

The complainant alleged that ASI Anwar and SI Shahbaz were supporting the accused party. She further alleged that the accused were threatening them with dire consequences.

She demanded of chief minister Pervaiz Elahi to take strict action against the police for their failure to arrest the accused.
