SARGODHA, July 17: Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Husain has approved a mega project of establishment of a well-equipped trauma centre at the Bhera service area and Salim motorway interchange.

The project would be completed at a cost of Rs400 million, District Nazim Malik Amjad Ali Noon told newsmen on Saturday.

He said the prime minister would also be the chief guest at the foundation-laying ceremony of the project in the first week of August. He would also inaugurate the Bhera-Bhalwal and Bhera-Shahpur roads.

He said 25 kanals at the Salim interchange had been allocated to establish the trauma centre, which would treat the accidental victims and other patients. Burn, orthopaedic, neurology and intensive care units would be built at the centre.

He said the centre would be funded by Japan, the Saudi prince, and the special funds of prime minister and annual development schemes.

DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS: The district development committee has approved 45 schemes of various departments to be completed at a cost of Rs43 million.

A meeting, chaired by DCO Hassan Iqbal, was informed that 33 development schemes of Sillanwali had been approved on the orders of the chief minister. The health department would complete four schemes, including those of women, at basic health units and the Government Mian Maula Bakhsh Hospital.

Under the Tameer-i-Punjab Programme, he said, a sewerage line would be laid in street No 1 of New Satellite Town, boundary wall of Janazgah would be constructed at Noor Colony, main road at Chak 4-SB, and main bazaar road at Chak 6-SB.

Besides, classrooms would be constructed at the Government Girls Primary School, Aminpura, and the Deaf and Dumb School.
