LAHORE, July 17: Comedian Albela died of a heart failure at a local hospital on Saturday evening. He was 63. He is survived by a wife, two sons and seven daughters.

Born in Gojra, Mr Albela came to Lahore at a very young age to become an actor. He performed in numerous television and theatre plays in his career spanning over 50 years. Some of his famous films include Bharya Mela, Baoo Gi, Ishq Nachaway Gali Gali, Ucha Naa Pyar Da and Badnam.

He was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital some five days ago with heart and liver problems. The family of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif bore all treatment expenses.

His funeral procession will be taken out from 141/1C2, Township near Gondal Chowk on Sunday at 8am.
