BAHAWALPUR July 22: National highways and motorway police DIG Dr Waseem Kausar has said that over 225-kilometre long section of the Lodhran-Bahawalpur-Rahim Yar Khan and Kotesabzal (near Sindh border) has been recently taken over by the motorway police for better traffic regulation and passengers safety.

Talking to Dawn here on Thursday, he said violators would not be challaned for one month till Aug 15, as the section was taken over on July 15.

Mr Waseem said during the period drivers would be trained to abide by the motorway traffic rules.

He said for the time being two beats of motorway police had been deployed which would patrol from Faridabad to Talibwala and from Talibwala to Kotesabzal.

As regards the Bahawalpur-Ahmedpur East-Channigoth section, the DIG said the motorway police would begin patrolling after completion of this 60-kilometre long road by the national highway authority.
