OKARA: Man run over by train

OKARA, July 22: A man was run over and killed by a train while a student suffered a severe electric shock here on Thursday.

Reports said an unidentified elderly man was crossing the track near Karmanwala when the Lahore-bound train hit him. His body was shifted to the DHQ hospital.

Abdul Qadeer was hoisting the school banner at a pole when he received an electric shock and fell on the ground. He was admitted to the DHQ hospital in a critical condition.

ARRESTED: Okara police claimed on Thursday to have arrested two of the five dacoits who managed their escape about 10 days ago when they were being brought to the court by a private bus.

ABDUCTED: Two women were allegedly abducted in different parts of the district on Thursday.

Reports said Sajida Perveen, the mother of two, was abducted by Ishaq, Inayat, Riasat and Amanat in the absence of her husband, Daulat Ali, at Yandraka area (about 35 kilometres from here).

Sonia, 14, was abducted by Ameer, Maqsood, Ali Sher and their accomplice Kalsoom when she was returning home at Chak 51/2-L from market.

Police have registered cases against the suspects.
