LARKANA, June 2: The Market police on Sunday arrested six persons in connection with torture case of a woman who was found by the Larkana women police a couple of days back.

The woman was admitted to the Chandka Medical College Teaching Hospital and was later shifted to the psychiatry unit of the hospital.

Those arrested were identified as Riaz, Faqeer Mohammed, Rabil, Asif Ali, Saffar and Ms Hidayat Khatoon.

Anwer Khokhar of the Khidmat-i-Masoom Trust after meeting the victim woman in the hospital told Dawn that signs of ropes on her legs and arms were visible which he said showed that she had been criminally assaulted.

THREE KILLED: Three persons were killed in two separate incidents in different parts of Larkana District during the last 24 hours ending on Sunday evening.

Ten armed men killed a villager, Asghar Ali, after kidnapping him from Jatt Bhutta village in the jurisdiction of Naudero police station on Saturday night.

The outlaws, reportedly belonging to dacoit gang of Ahmedo Jagirani, escaped, leaving behind the body.

The gang have a dispute over land with Kharos tribe and the police have said the incident may be the result of that enmity.

Nazir Ahmed Junejo was killed in the limits of Dhamraho police station on early Sunday morning.

The deceased was a peasant and had just shifted from Madeji and settled near Mirwah.

Locals said the murder was the result of an old enmity.

In another incident Saindad Abro and Wali Mohammed Abro killed Ms Moomal, wife of Allahdino Abro, in Tayyab village in the jurisdiction of Ratodero police station on Sunday morning and escaped.

The police said the murder was the result of an old land dispute.

STRIKE CALL: The Sindh Brohi Welfare Association has given a call for a strike in Larkana on Tuesday to protest against the murder of Mukhtiar Brohi in police custody.

Meanwhile, a group of people, including activists of the People’s Youth (SB) and the Sindh Social Alliance, observed a hunger strike on Tuesday in the Jinnahbagh.

They demanded the arrest of the three police inspectors allegedly involved in the murder of Mukhtiar Brohi.
