GUJRANWALA, Aug 28: Around 97 union councils out of 188 in the district are running without 'citizen community boards' while the district council has refused to release development funds till the formation of CCBs, it is learnt here on Saturday.

A source said that the government had ordered the establishment of these boards in union councils during the last fiscal year.

He said the district government had also been directed that 25 per cent funds of development projects would be spent through these boards.

In all, he said, that 62 citizen community boards were constituted in Wazirabad tehsil, 36 in city tehsil council, 29 in Gujranwala Sadar and 12 in Naushera Virkan tehsil.
