SUKKUR, Sept 18: State Minister for Industries and Production Ali Nawaz Mahar has said 30 new industrial units will be established in Sindh which will help reduce unemployment in the province.

He was speaking at a gathering at the main chowk in Ghotki on Saturday on his first visit to his constituency after being appointed the minister.

Mr Mahar said people would be advanced loans, which could be returned in easy instalments, to start their own business.

He said Ghotki would be declared an industrial zone and Rs250 million of a grant of Rs750 million, announced by President Gen Pervez Musharraf for the district, would be provided in October.

He said he had discussed problems of Ghotki with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at a meeting, who had given an assurance that the problems would soon be resolved.

UPLIFT SCHEMES: The Sindh government is spending a huge amount on various development projects being carried out in the province.

This was stated by the adviser to the Sindh chief minister, Syed Manzoor Hussain, and Mumtaz Hameed, while speaking at a meeting of district officers of nation-building departments at the circuit house here on Saturday, said an official press statement.

They asked the district officer, forest, to ensure success of the plantation campaign. Taluka municipal officers were directed to improve civic amenities and condition of parks in their areas.

EXAM CENTRES: The district nazim has declared examination centres protected areas by imposing section 144, Cr.PC.

Except for examination staff and candidates having admit cards, no one can enter the examination centres, established for Secondary School Certificate-II supplementary examinations, being held from Sept 21 to 28.

The nazim also banned working of photostat machines from 9am to 12 noon and 2pm to 5pm during the examinations.

MEETING: DCO Abdul Qadir Mangi held a meeting of the board of governors of the Sukkur Public School and discussed matters pertaining to performance of the school with them, said an official press statement issued here on Saturday.

On a complaint by parents that the Habib Bank, Military Road branch, charged Rs10 on each challan from students, the DCO constituted a three-member committee of the board of governors to resolve the matter with the bank management.

About allotment of school plots to some teachers, he ordered an inquiry into the matter.
