ISLAMABAD, Sept 18: Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat on Friday night distributed cash awards amounting to Rs5 million amongst Pakistan squash players.

The awards were handed over in appreciation of the Pakistani teams' recent victories in Asian squash championship in Malaysia and the World junior squash championship in Islamabad.

"In the light of "PSF Rules of Business" approved by the General Council, for their tremendous victory in the Asian senior and World junior championships, president Pakistan Squash Federation awarded cash incentives of Rs5m for bringing laurels to Pakistan in the game of Squash," PSF said in a press release.

The following was the breakup of the monetary awards.

Yasir Butt was awarded Rs. 300,000 for winning silver medal in World junior championship's individual event.

The three players of the Pakistan team retaining the title at Islamabad got Rs1 million each.

The Pakistan team which figured against Egypt in the final of the team event consisted of Khalid Atlas Khan, Farhan Mehboob and Yasir Butt.

Their coach Rehmat Khan and reserve player Basit Ashfaq, were awarded Rs 500,000 each while assistant coach Ayaz Khan received award of Rs. 200,000.

Mansoor Zaman was awarded Rs. 50,000 for winning silver medal in Asian Championship's individual event.

Pakistan team for Asian senior championship 2004, comprised Mansoor Zaman, Farrukh Zaman and Majid Khan. They were given prizes of Rs. 60,000 each.

The coach Jamshed Gul Khan was awarded Rs. 50,000 whereas Shahid Zaman could not turn up being out of country.

A special prize of Rs. 100,000 was given to under-15 player Aamir Atlas for his tremendous performance in the World juniors in Islamabad. He was declared "Find of the Tournament."

Farhan Mehboob was the runner-up at the tournament for which he was given a cash award of Rs. 30,000.

In recognition of sincere efforts and hard work by coaches, president PSF awarded Rs. 100,000 each to Mehboob Khan, Atlas Khan, Abdul Rashid and M. Qadeer Jaffery.-APP
