TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 18: Bhakkar police on Monday arrested a local lawyer of Gobindpura locality, who had helped the arrested alleged terrorist in the Multan car blast.

The police also raided a house in Islampura locality near Jamia Usmania and recovered a computer, some documents, two mobile phone sims and a motorcycle.

The house is located near Jamia Usmania, a well-known seminary where sons of late Maulana Haq Nawaz Jhangvi, late Maulana Azam Tariq and Maulana Abdullah Ludhianvi had been studying. The purpose of renting a house near Jamia Usmania may have been to watch activities of banned SSP leadership.

Lawyer Rana Fida Hussain was taken away by Bhakkar police as he had helped the alleged terrorist in taking the house on rent.

When contacted, the local police said they were unaware of the raids by the Bhakkar police. However, the area people said that three Elite Force vans were also accompanied by Bhakkar police.

WATER SCARCITY: Farmers will hold a rally on the Pirmahal-Shorkot Cantonment Road on Oct 24 to protest against the non-availability of irrigation water to tail-end villages situated at Jhang and Gogera branches.

This was announced here on Monday by Pakistan Kissan Committee President Chaudhry Fateh Muhammad and former PPP MPA Mian Muhammad Rafiq at a press conference.

They said crops of sugarcane, fodder, maize and orchards were being affected due to water shortage. They said the area people and the cattle had no drinking water as the subsoil water was brackish.

MURDERED: A cashier was murdered over a property dispute on Monday at Chak 323-JB Qiampur.

Muhammad Shafiq Chaudhry was on his way to the bank from his village when his rival Rizwan along with his two unidentified accomplices attacked him. Shafiq succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
