MULTAN, Oct 18: Students of the MSc applied linguistics at the English Language and Literature Department of the Bahauddin Zakariya University ended their week-long strike on Monday on the assurance of a peaceful environment on the campus.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Karamat Ali held a meeting with the protesting students in his office and assured them that the university management would take action against the elements threatening peace on the campus.
He said the disciplinary committee had already initiated a probe into manhandling of students at the hands of a student organization. He assured the protesters that the university management would not allow anyone to create unrest.
The students of the applied linguistics had started boycott of their classes last week in protest against some 'goons' belonging to the PML's students wing. The protesting students did not even participate in the examinations held during their strike.
The protesters had alleged that MSF-Q activists often harassed and beat them up without any provocation while the university management was not taking any action against them.
