KHAIRPUR, Oct 20: The administration has decided to launch a police operation in the Kingri area to recover arms and arrest wanted persons in a bid to settle the Solangi-Jagirani feud.

The decision was taken in a meeting on Wednesday which was attended by Sukkur DIG Ramzan Channo, officials of the rangers and DPO Khairpur Imran Yaqoob Minhas.

According to police sources, a joint operation would be launched by police and rangers for which a time frame would be announced soon. The meeting also decided to establish more police pickets in the area.

District Nazim Nafisa Shah visited the Ghaffar Shah area on Tuesday and offered condolence with the relatives of Jagiranis.

She was accompanied by Taluka Nazim Kingri and 10 UC Nazims of the district. She also met with notables of the Jagiranis.

They told her that the police were responsible for the clash and they did not want reconciliation between the two groups.

They said when the police pickets were setup, there was peace in the area but as soon as the pickets were removed a week back, three people were killed.

They urged the district nazim that the police should conduct an operation to recover arms and they were ready to surrender unlicensed arms and produce wanted persons before the police.

Ms Shah said it was a positive sign that warring factions wanted an operation to recover the arms but police officials did not want so.

She alleged that the police wanted the clash prolonged because after killing of 19 people no police official had been suspended or transferred.

She said she had talked to the provincial police officer and urged him to take an action to put an end to the clash. Ms Shah claimed that the PPO had agreed to visit the area soon.
