SARGODHA, Oct 26: Uninterrupted power outage especially during the Sahar and Iftar timings has become a constant source of trouble for people despite the Wapda chairman and the federal minister's assurance that there will be no inconvenience to the public in this regard.
The consumers of the Satellite sub-division of the Faisalabad Electricity Supply Company are particularly facing tough days.
It is reliably learnt that the officials of the sub-division suspended power supply for six hours on Tuesday to replace the wiring of a shop whose owner allegedly oblige some of the influential officials.
Irked by the move, the people of the link college road took to streets after Iftaar to lodge their protest against what, they said, suspension of electricity to benefit favourites. The protesters, over six dozen in number, criticized the Wapda officials for giving the least respect to the common consumers.
Some of the protesters clashed with linesmen working on the shop. The linesmen claimed that they were bound to follow the instructions of the higher-ups, though it was a risky job to work at night.
Meanwhile, the protesters have urged President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to intervene and save the consumers from discrimination.
