NAROWAL, Oct 28: The district council has expressed its deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the area.
Convener\district Naib Nazim Hafiz Rizwan Masood chaired the session held here on Thursday while district Nazim Javed Safdar Kahloon was also present.
The council unanimously passed a resolution asking the DPO to take a serious notice of the lawlessness and the increasing incidence of crime in the district.
Addressing the meeting, Javed Safdar Kahloon said the contract system for the execution of uplift projects was a big hurdle in the pace of development in the district.
He said people should form citizen community boards (CCBs) for expeditious execution of uplift projects. He promised to provide funds to the union councils for small development schemes.
MOSQUE BODY: The committee formed to resolve the issue of mosque at Jassar By-pass Chowk has unanimously decided to construct the mosque after getting permission from the Punjab government.
This was said by district Nazim Javed Safdar Kahloon at a press meeting here on Thursday.
He said some people were exploiting the issue to disrupt peace in the city.
The committee consisted of seven members, including ulema and notables of the area.
HOUSE LOOTED: Five dacoits looted the house of the executive district officer (health) and injured him on offering resistance here on Thursday early morning.
Reports said Dr Shaukat Saleem was present at his house at Shakargarh when someone knocked at the door. As soon as the EDO opened the door, five bandits entered the house. The gangsters locked the family members in a room and made off with cash worth Rs50,000, 50 tola gold ornaments, a mobile phone and pistol.
The dacoits injured Dr. Shaukat Saleem on offering resistance. Police have registered a case.
