SIALKOT, Oct 31: Different social and political organizations have expressed their concern over the prolonged shortage of teachers and lack of facilities at various government educational institutions in the city.

Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, Citizens Rights Forum chairman Dr. Muneer Butt, Citizens Council president Sheikh Pervaiz Iqbal Soni, PML-N MPA Imran Ashraf, MMA MPA Arshad Mehmood Baggu and others alleged that Sialkot had always been neglected by the government regarding the provision of modern educational facilities.

They said the National Assembly speaker, three state ministers and as many provincial ministers belonged to the Sialkot district, but not a single college had been established in any part of the area by the district, provincial and federal governments.

They urged the Punjab government to grant the university status to the Government Murray College on a priority basis besides, upgrading the Government Commerce College to postgraduate level.

They demanded launch of second shift at the Government Allama Iqbal College for women and Government Murray College.

They also demanded appointment of teachers on vacant positions at Government Allama Iqbal College for women and increase in the seats of MA/MSc classes.
