LARKANA, Oct 31: Protesting against decision about deploying Rangers in the Chandka Medical College, the students' alliance on Saturday boycotted their classes and staged a demonstration.
They locked lecture halls and the main entrance.
They carried placards and chanted slogans against the proposal of deploying Rangers.
Speaking on the occasion, student leaders Waqar Mahar, Jamil Gabol, Mehtab Phull and Imran Kolachi criticized the academic council's approval of stationing Rangers on the campus under the lame excuse of checking the infiltration of outsiders.
They said they would not allow the Rangers to enter the college premises.
District Nazim Khursheed Junejo and DCO Razzaque Qureshi held talks with the students.
They alleged that the project director of the CMC was involved in corruption of million of rupees by carrying out substandard repair and renovation work of the CMC hostels.
They called for his removal and alleged that in his presence more and more funds would be embezzled.
They said defective sewerage and water supply systems had created problems for students.
The nazim said students' problems were genuine.
The members of the academic council, the representatives of students' alliance, the DCO and the district nazim will hold a meeting on Thursday to solve the problems.
The students' alliance was asked to prepare its charter of demands so that it could be discussed in the meeting.
Till the decision, the students will not boycott classes.
