LAHORE, Oct 31: Jamaat-i-Islami amir Qazi Husain Ahmad on Sunday visited Hamza Shahbaz in Model Town to condole with him on the demise of his grandfather, Mian Sharif. Lahore Jamaat amir Hafiz Salman Butt also accompanied him.

Meanwhile, a special meeting of newly-elected district amirs belonging to the central Punjab was held at Mansoora to discuss present political situation and outline future line of action.

Punjab amir Liaquat Baloch directed the district office-bearers to mould public opinion against president-in-uniform in their respective areas so that Gen Musharraf could be forced to doff his military dress with public pressure.

A group leaders' convention was also held at Jamaat's Lytton Road offices. The convention, chaired by Mr Butt, was aimed at mobilizing opposition members in the Lahore district assembly for solving peoples' problems.

Ehsanullah Waqas, Chaudhry Shaukat, Naveed Sadiq and others spoke to its participants.
