SIALKOT, Nov 3: The Government Murray College has been closed for two days by the college administration to mourn the killing of college student Hafiz Muhammad Shoaib , who was shot dead by MSF activists the other day in reaction to the murder of their Gujranwala division president Fayyaz Qadri in the Sialkot's neighbouring village.

The college will officially reopen tomorrow (Friday) after the two-day mourning, though most of the students are unlikely to turn up again before Eid.

Hafiz Shoaib was laid to rest at his native graveyard in Rangpura, Sialkot city, in the afternoon. A large number of mourners, including teachers, staff and students of the institution, attended the funeral.

Later, college principal Prof Riaz Sadiq told newsmen that the murder of the college student was a conspiracy to ruin the peaceful environment by the outsiders, who forced their entry into college and resorted to firing. The intruders also harassed other students and the teaching staff.

Talking to newsmen, Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association local chapter president Prof Qamar Malik said after the Tuesday's firing incident at the Government Murray College, the students and teachers were feeling a sense of insecurity.

He urged the government to take some effective measures to maintain the peace in all the educational institutions. The government, he said, had miserably failed to provide security to the lives of teachers and students.

Meanwhile, on the report of Rana Muhammad Shafiq, the father of the deceased, Rangpura police have registered a case No 306/2004 under sections 148,149 and 302 PPC against six nominated suspects namely Malik Iqbal alias Teetu, Ashfaq alias Cheeta, Rana Waseem, Rafiq Khan, Rana Waqar, Fahad Ghuman and their four unidentified armed accomplices. However, no arrest was made till last reports came in on Wednesday evening.
