HYDERABAD, Nov 10: The Sindh government on Wednesday started a survey for acquisition of 1,000 acres of land for expansion of Kotri SITE.

Revenue officials collected relevant information from office-bearers of the Kotri Association of Trade and Industry (KATI).

Under the SITE expansion programme, plots would be allotted to entrepreneurs for establishment of textile and other big and small industrial units.

KATI senior vice-chairman Tariq Baloch has thanked Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Sindh Labour and Industry Minister Adil Siddiqui for acceding to the request of the association to expand the industrial zone.

He said establishment of more industrial units would provide jobs to hundreds of people and strengthen national economy.

He proposed that in addition to the government land, private land should also be purchased for the expansion of the industrial zone and handed over to the SITE management as soon as possible.

HESCO: The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company has introduced a mobile complaint van and mobile transformer trolley service to provide electricity to consumers in the areas where power supply is suspended due to some reasons.

The inaugural ceremony of the service was held at the secretariat of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Speaking on the occasion, Hesco chief engineer Mohammad Sharif Ansari said the service would go a long way in mitigating problems of consumers because sudden disruptions in power supply created difficulties for people.

He said the service would be made available in every division of the company.

Replying to points raised by HCCI president Mehmood Ahmad, the Hesco official said previously detection bills were issued by SDOs and executive engineers concerned but now a foolproof system had been introduced under which committees had been constituted in all Hesco circles to make inquiries within given parameters and then issue detection bills.

He gave an assurance that random detection bills would not be issued.

The HCCI chief, who inaugurated the new service, expressed the hope that complaints of consumers about sudden breakdowns in electricity would be removed to a great extent following the introduction of the service.

He, however, said complaints about detection bills were not being decided on time which resulted in accumulation of arrears.

He proposed that in case of complaints by consumers about detection bills, consumers should be issued the current bill according to meter reading till a decision on the complaints.
