SARGODHA, Nov 16: Police registered a case under Anti-Terrorism Act against 300 assailants who set ablaze Bhabra police post here on Monday afternoon.

Reports said Muhammad Riaz and his group members, including Manazir Ali, Muhammad Nawaz and Sarung attacked the house of his opponent Muhammad Aslam on Eid days. Both the groups exchanged fire as a result, a boy, Umer Shahzad, sustained bullet injuries and later died at the DHQ Hospital.

An FIR was lodged with the Bhabra police post demanding immediate arrest of the accused. On alleged police failure, scores of villagers got infuriated and set the police post on fire reducing the entire record and a private motorcycle to ashes. However, the policemen managed their escape.

Meanwhile, Kotmomen DSP along with a heavy police contingent and an elite force squad reached the spot and attempted to disperse the mob by resorting to baton-charge and tear gas but they failed to control the people. He called police force from the district and the mob dispersed after the interference of District Police Officer Muhammad Nameem Khan, Provincial Colonies Minister Mian Manazir Ranjha and MNA Chaudhry Ghias Ahmed Mela.

Later, Muhammad Azam who reportedly was injured due to police baton-charge died on Monday night.

No arrests were reported till the filing of this report.

RAPED: Two people kidnapped and raped a teenage girl on Eid night in Chak 152 NB in Shah Nikdar police limits and threw her in street unconscious.

According to police, 15-year-old 'I' was kidnapped by Hayat Ghadhal and Ghafoor at gunpoint from her house when she was sleeping along with her family. They raped her all night and threw her outside her house in the street.

The girl was admitted to hospital where she was reportedly in coma.

Her family alleged that police were helping the culprits.
