HYDERABAD, Nov 18: The director-general of health services, Sindh, Dr Hadi Bux Jatoi has said that from Jan to Oct 2, 247 cases of snakebite were reported in different government hospitals of the Tharparkar district.
In a statement issued here, he said that during the last two months, three people had died due to snakebite.He said that under the instructions from the Sindh chief minister, the Sindh health secretary had written to the National Institute of Health in Islamabad for the supply of more ASV vaccines.
Dr Jatoi said that a total of 2,735 ASV had been supplied to the government hospitals of the Tharparkar district. He said that there were two causes for the death of people due to snakebite, one being the delay to bring the patient to hospital. The other is that some snakes are too poisonous and patients die instantly after being bitten. He said it was a fact that Tharparkar district needed more ASV vaccines than all the remaining district of Sindh.
DCO: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has called upon the officers of the HDA and TMOs to provide basic amenities to people especially during Eidul Fitr. This he said while presiding over a meeting of officers of the HDA and TMOs in his office on Friday morning.
The DCO directed them that roads, streets and footpaths be kept clean, sewerage be drained out and heaps of garbage be removed and patch work of roads be completed so that common people might not suffer.
The meeting was attended by the director-general of HDA and all concerned officers.
SMT: The central committee of the Sindhi Mazdoor Tehrik at a meeting held here has condemned labour policies of the government and demanded that the anti-labour laws should be repealed and legal, constitutional and fundamental human rights of the working class restored.
Arif Junejo presided over the meeting of the labour wing of the Awami Tehrik at the Awami house.
The meeting charged that due to the labour policies, tens of thousands of workers had lost jobs and a large number of factories were lying closed. It said that the anti-labour ordinances promulgated by the president had deprived the working class of their rights including job security and right to form trade union.
The meeting demanded that the anti-labour ordinances be repealed, coal-fired power plants installed in Tharparkar and preference given to local people in employments.
EXENORATED: The Hussainabad police exonerated Matli Taluka Nazim Asghar Halepoto of the charges of shooting at and injuring two boys playing cricket outside his residence.
Pervez, 15, and Ahsan, 12, sustained bullet injuries on Friday when they were allegedly fired upon by Halepoto. He was booked in the case lodged by the elder brother of injured boys.
The police detained the nazim who was then hospitalized after being remanded to police custody by the judicial magistrate-13 for six days.
During the investigation, he was let off in the case under section 497 of the CrPC by investigating officer Kareem Chachar on Saturday.
Requesting anonymity, a police official told this correspondent that the investigating officer had established that no evidence had been found against the nazim. He claimed that the complainant had also compromised with the accused.
DEMONSTRATION: Residents of Qasimabad taluka here on Tuesday staged a demonstration at the gate of the municipal gardens (Rani Bagh) against the recovery of illegal parking fees by the Taluka nazim. The demonstration was staged under the banner of Qasimabad Action Committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Mehboob Abro, Zafar Solangi, Barkat Babbar and Saleem Tareen said the nazim had recovered millions of rupees on the pretext of parking fees on the Eid day. They claimed that the recovery of parking fees was illegal.
