HYDERABAD, Dec 18: The chairman of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Mr Bashir Khan Qureshi, has said that there is no time for intellectual discussions in drawing rooms over manifold problems being faced by Sindh.

Talking to newsmen outside the press club on Saturday, Mr Qureshi said if the rulers went ahead with the Kalabagh dam project, Pakistan would be disintegrated within two years.

He said the JSQM believed in a joint struggle against upstream dam projects by all political parties of Sindh.

He urged the Sindhi nation to come out on roads for their rights.

Meanwhile, activists of JSQM and JSSF staged a march from Qasimabad to the press club in protest against a delay in arrest of the murderers of JSQM leader, Gul Bhatti.

Mr Qureshi and the senior vice-president of the party, Dr Niaz Kalani, led the protest.

The father of the slain leader, Mr Parwano Bhatti, also participated in the march.

The activists also held a demonstration outside the DPO (operation) office.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Qureshi made it clear that the murderers of Gul Bhatti would not be forgiven.

He accused the DPO investigation Fareed Jan Sarhandi and other police officials of providing protection to murderers.

He said it was due to the partisan attitude of the police that the murderers had not been arrested even after four months.

He warned that if the police failed to arrest the culprits, the party activists would be compelled to adopt some other course.

Mr Qureshi said Sindh had been converted into a police state and lawlessness had become the order of day.

He said the situation had reached such a stage that even judges were not safe.

Mr Qureshi and Parwano Bhatti also met the DPO operation who held out an assurance that the murders would be arrested very soon.

He also convened a meeting for Dec 21 to discuss the matter.

CANAL CLOSURE: The Water and Sewerage Agency has notified that the Sindh irrigation department has decided to close canals for annual desilting from Dec 20 to Jan 5.

The agency said the WASA was trying to store water as a result the supply would remain suspended to consumers from Dec 19 to Dec 20.

The agency advised the consumers to use water sparingly during the closure period.

Meanwhile, the agency launched a crackdown against the defaulters and disconnected water supply to many a marriage hall and domestic consumers.
