SWABI, Jan 1: Heavy rain continued to lash the city and its surrounding areas on Saturday. Thunderstorm and rain has been continuing since Friday without any interruption.

Meteorologists said that more rain was expected on Saturday night and Sunday.

The rain badly affected the entire communication system and power breakdown lasting several hours in various areas.

LAKKI MARWAT: Many houses and other buildings, including the Lakki Marwat sub-jail, were damaged by flash flood in River Gambilla. People said that fertile lands of the Kutch area near Lakki Marwat had been ruined.

MINGORA: Traffic between Mingora, Kalam, Besham and Behrain was suspended because of continuous rains and snowfall.

Items of daily use could not be delivered on Saturday because of landslides on the Mingora-Kalam and Mingora-Besham roads, resulting in price hike.

KHYBER AGENCY: At least a dozen houses were damaged and three vehicles overturned by floodwater during rain and snowfall in Khyber Agency over the last three days.

An Edhi Foundation ambulance, a van and a truck loaded with drugs and carpets overturned due to flood at different locations on the Peshawar-Torkham highway. No casualty was reported.

The intermittent rain also damaged boundary walls of a dozen houses in Loe Shalman, Mukhtarkhel, Zargarano Kaley and Khwar Bazaar areas.
