GUJRANWALA, Jan 29: The local Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of former Gujranwala DIG, former Sialkot DPO, Gujrat DPO, former Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital MS and a surgeon as they failed to appear before court on Saturday.
In any case, elite police officials and former Sialkot jail superintendent and former SHO Zulfikar Ali Virk were present in the court.
Judge Mujahid Mustaqim adjourned the Sialkot jail case till Feb 4.
The Lahore High Court had already cancelled the interim bails of ex-Gujranwala DIG Malik Muhammad Iqbal, ex-Sialkot DPO Amjad Javed Saleemi, Gujrat DPO Raja Munawer Hassan, ex-medical superintendent of Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital Dr Muhammad Firdaus and surgeon Dr Muhammad Sajjad some three days back.
GAS CRISIS: Over 200 commercial units and almost all CNG stations have been closed due to the gas crisis while the SNGPL has reduced the supply to domestic consumers, it is learnt here on Saturday.
Reports said the area was facing gas shortage due to the situation prevailing in Balochistan and increase in domestic demand due to cold weather.
Expressing their serious concern, the business community said the crisis would decrease production affecting the national economy badly.
Meanwhile, citizens had to face a great deal of inconvenience due to closure of CNG stations. People from various localities complained of low gas pressure as well.
When contacted the SNGPL regional manager said the situation would improve shortly.
MURDERED: A youth on Saturday killed his sister and her lover on suspicion in Macheki Goraya village, Ferozewala.
Accused Zafar Iqbal saw his sister 'S' and Naeemullah sitting together. Falling into a rage, he opened fire on them, killing both of them on the spot.
Ferozewala police have registered a case against the accused and are investigating.
Meanwhile, the bodies were handed over to their heirs after autopsy at the local DHQ Hospital.
