LARKANA, Feb 6: A timber merchant, Imdad Ali Sargani, was killed and her sister-in-law, Marooi Shaikh, was injured allegedly by her father and brother on the pretext of karo-kari in Noor Mohammed Shaikh village in the Drigh area on Saturday.

Marooi was taken to the Chandka Medical College Hospital here where she was admitted.

Drigh police have registered FIR against Koro Shaikh and Abbas Shaikh, the father-in-law and brother-in-law of the deceased, respectively, and arrested Abbas.

The injured women, rejecting the charge of adultery, said that Sargani had come to their home to seek payment of a loan amounting to Rs400,000 from his in-laws. However, instead of getting money, he had been killed on the false pretext of karo-kari and she injured to prove the charge, she added.
