HYDERABAD, Feb 8: Students of the Government Nazareth Girls' Degree College have collected money, clothes and other items for people affected by the tsunami in response to an appeal made by President Gen Pervez Musharraf.

Speaking at a function held at the college, its principal Professor Aftab Ahsan Qureshi, Professor Naheed Rakhshan and Professor Neelofar appreciated the spirit of the students.

The principal said that a cheque for Rs26,000, collected by the students, would be deposited in the president's fund for tsunami victims. The participants offered Fateha and observed two-minute silence for the tsunami victims.

Our Bureau reports: The University of Sindh has announced that the final list of candidates selected for admission to MPA, evening programme, and post-graduate diploma in public administration has been displayed onthenotice board of the department of Public Management Sciences.

Evening classes have commenced in the department. The candidates have been directed to regularly attend the classes and those, who have not paid admission fee, should do it immediately, failing which their admissions will be cancelled.

Meanwhile, the adviser of the Bureau of Students' Tutorial Guidance/Counselling Services and Co-Curricular Activities of the university has announced that a team of students will participate in a youth convention to be held on Feb 9 and 10 in Karachi.

The team includes Amjad Ali Abro, student of B.A (honours) II in the department of International Relations, Fatima Nisar Soomro of BS (honours) II, the department of Physics, and Shabana Hakro of BPA (honours) III, the department of Public Management Sciences.

DEBATE: The University of Sindh is organizing an inter-departmental English debate competition on February 14 in the auditorium of the department of Statistics. Students from different institutes and departments will participate in it.

EXAMS: The controller of examinations of the university has notified that practical examination of BSc-I and II and BA-I and II (Psychology, Geography, Statistics, Physical Education, Social Work) BSW and BSc-I and II (Home Economics) will be conducted from March 2 at different colleges.
