Meanwhile, bullets fired in jubilation at a marriage ceremony in Kharian claimed the life of a band master Shafiq. Kharian Saddar police have registered a case against one Munawar.

POLICE: Kharian Saddar police have been charged with supporting the two persons, who allegedly had sodomized a schoolboy at Dhar village.

Complainant Anwar Waheed told this correspondent that Kharian police has registered a case against Qamar and Ihsan on the charge of sodomizing his son Anjum, 12. He said the case was instituted after a medico-legal certificate issued by the area doctor.

He alleged that the police had picked up both the suspects, but did not mention their arrest on paper despite the fact that they confessed to the crime. "The police have been pressuring him to patch up with the suspects and threatening him with dire consequences in case he pursues the case."

Anwar demanded that the IGP and the Range police DIG should take punitive action against the police and direct them to arrest the culprits.

SHO Javed Aslam Malhi was not available for comments. However, the police station moharrar said they had not arrested the suspects because the medical report did not confirm the complainant's claim. He said they would arrest the accused following a positive report from the chemical examiner.
