BAHAWALPUR, Feb 10: Over 600 telephone connections in Satellite Town and its adjacent areas turned 'dead' on Thursday due to the alleged theft of underground cable.

According to SDO Akhlaq Buzdar, some unidentified thieves took away the cable on Wednesday night. He said an FIR had been lodged with the Baghdadul Jadid police and efforts were being made on emergency basis to lay a new cable.

FOUNDER'S DAY: The 51st founder's day function of Sadiq Public School was held here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Corps Commander Lt-Gen Perwez Shahid commended the role of the school in the character-building of students and said that the institution had produced leaders who were serving in different fields in the country.

Earlier, in his welcome address, school principal Prof. Malik Muhammed Asif spoke of curriculum and extra-curriculum activities of students and said that an IT centre, girls school and a residential colony for staff were being constructed in the school campus with a grant of Rs20 million given by the Punjab chief minister.
