KHAIRPUR, Feb 12: Members of the Khairpur Dost Panel on Friday boycotted the taluka council meeting after a fist fight over procedure of election for the taluka nazim.

Awam Dost member Mukhtiar Solangi demanded that open voting should be held for election of taluka nazim while the KDP member Sattar Jagirani opposed the proposal and demanded that there should be secret ballot.

On this, members of the two groups exchanged hot words.

They attacked each other and exchanged punches.

Women members started screaming.

The members of the KDP boycotted the session and took out a procession.

They staged a sit-in outside the A-section police station.

The convenor of the taluka council, Lal Bux Mangi, announced that of 21 members, 13 gave open votes in favour of the Awam Dost candidate Mushtaq Jumani.

The seat was vacated due to death of ADP Taluka Nazim Dr Hassan Ali Solangi one week ago.

Agha Nasrullah Pathan of the KDP candidate for the taluka nazim lodged an FIR with the A-section police against 53 ADP members.
