QUETTA, March 6: Ziarat District Nazim Sardar Ehsanullah Domar said on Sunday that torrential rain and heavy snowfall in the valley had caused heavy losses to people in the valley but the provincial government had done nothing to help them.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club, the nazim said hundreds of mud-houses were destroyed and thousands of cattle head killed in the rain.

He said the provincial government had neglected Ziarat while providing aid to the victims because of wrong reports submitted by local officials. He said people were facing shortage of food and other essential items due to closure of roads in the mountainous areas.

He said the government should take steps to supply funds and food to people in remote areas of the district.
