KHAIRPUR, April 29: A seminar against child labour was organised under the aegis of Child Rights Committee and NGOs of Khairpur district here on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Iqbal Detho, Zarina Jalbani and others regretted that a number of children were being subjected to sexual abuse and the main reason behind it was poverty.

They said that children prisoners are subjected to more physical labour than other prisoners.

They suggested constitution of a committee consisting of NGOs and government representatives to monitor child labour in jails.

They said that due to increase in poverty in Pakistan, children are compelled to work in restaurants, shops and factories hence 75 per cent of children are unable to get education.
