Robberies in Haripur on the rise

HARIPUR, No 24: Some armed bandits deprived a local resident of cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees at gunpoint in Mohalla Akbarabad Pandak here the other day.

According to Ilyas Chowdhary, the house owner, an armed dacoit barged into his house at around 3am and after breaking the locks of his drawing room, facilitated the entry of his four other accomplices.

They held the family members at gunpoint when they woke up for Sehri. climbed down from the boundary

The bandits later forced the family to surrender Rs80,000 in cash, gold ornaments, colour TV, tape recorder and other household items and made good their escape.

In a second incident, two armed persons entered the house of one Ghulam Rasool of village Makhan Colony. When the inmates aroused from their slumber, the burglars shot at Ghulam Rasool’s son Abdul Wakeel in the chest with a sophisticated weapon and fled the scene. The victim died instantly.

The victim’s father has nominated two persons of the same village for killing his son.

It may be recalled that the armed gangs of burglars have been on the loose in the district for quite some time, causing sleepless nights to residents. In the last fortnight, 11 burglaries have been reported.
