ISLAMABAD, March 16: The chairperson, Pakistan People’s Party and former premier Benazir Bhutto has condemned the Karachi administration’s high-handedness against the protesting PPP workers.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, she demanded the immediate release of all the workers.

“The Kings Party is holding rallies under the patronage of the military regime while the PPP workers are being arrested and beaten up for raising issues of legitimate concern”, she said and warned “this cannot not be allowed.”

The arrests proved that the military regime was scared of the PPP workers and, therefore, resorted to brutal means of suppression, she said.

A couple of days before, scores of PPP activists were injured in Sukkur, Khairpur and Jacobabad while hundreds arrested throughout the province as police resorted to baton-charge and aerial firing against the protesters.
